Don’t call it a comeback! Well, actually you can. The ultra glam styles of the 70s are back like they never left. This has always been one of my favorite eras in fashion because so many styles are still relevant today. When I think of the 70s, I immediately think of so much – glitter, glitz, disco, and John Travolta with that infamous white pantsuit come to mind. The 70s brought us icons like Bianca Jagger, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle and Cher. We also had important fashion moments such as DVF’s iconic wrap dress and the rise of YSL. This season, designers and brands such as Coach and Marc Jacobs created collections with 70s inspired elements combined with a contemporary twist. The revival is in full effect and here are 3 ways you can rock the trend ASAP.

1. Bell Bottoms: Easily one of the most recognizable trends of an era. Flares and wide legged pants were EVERYWHERE and truly defined the look of the late 60s and early 70s. If you’re going for a more modern look, pair your denim with a plain white tee, statement accessories, and light makeup. If you’re really in love with ~groovy~ look (think Dazed & Confused), then try a printed tank, platform wedges, and heart shaped sunnies.

2. Flowy Chiffon: When I think of this era, I immediately think of the epic nightclub looks of the Studio 54 reign. During the late 70s, disco was in full swing and Studio 54 was the place to see and be seen. Regulars such as Grace Jones, Jerry Hall, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross made Studio 54 a popular nightclub for glamor and decadence. Designers like Halston created looks for the “it” girls that defined the essence of elegance and excess. One NYE, event planner Rover Isabell ordered 4 tons of glitter to cover the nightclub’s dance floor. So if you’re going to rock the flowy chiffon look, try a super versatile and always en-vogue wide legged jumpsuit. (Similar) If you want to have a full Bianca Jagger moment, add a metallic turban and fur stole to luxe your look.

3. Matching Prints: The 70s were all about matching everything from head to toe. It definitely was not uncommon to match your tops, skirts, shorts, and pants together for a literal top-to-bottom look. As tacky as that may sound, this season’s “it” look is a sassy chic 2 piece set. Polished and prim, stars such as Taylor Swift have popularized this nostalgic style with an effortless modern-day edge. If you’re feeling festive this season, ASOS has this floral tank and short set available (and on SALE!) here. Pair it with a bright pump and clutch for a cute date night look. Other brands like BooHoo Official and Lulu*s also have affordable and super cute options if you’re looking to try this cool co-ord look.
