#2016faves | Favorite Albums of the Year

Every year, whether anyone cares or not, I compile a list of my favorite albums. Most of these are the ones I've had on repeat all year long and that's basically the only metric I use to determine how this list is composed. That, and like, overall musical preference but you catch my drift okay? You're probably wondering why there are only 9 albums on this list. Well, it's quite simple: 1. I don't listen to nearly as much music as I would when I was in school on my computer all day and studying 24/7. And that definitely has played a factor in how many albums I listen to nowadays. And 2. PicStitch's biggest collage only could hold 9 photos so....here we are.

STARBOY: The Weeknd - I have had this album for 1 month and it's been in my car CD player for....1 month. I got it the day after Thanksgiving and it's been in my car CD player ever since. My car isn't fancy enough for an AUX cord but even if it was, STARBOY would still be on repeat.
Favorite Songs: Party Monster, Reminder, Sidewalks, Secrets, I Feel it Comin

Blonde: Frank Ocean - Frank finally releases the album we have deserved after 4 long years of waiting.  Many people are indifferent about it but I thought it was pretty decent.
Favorite Songs: Pink + White, Solo, Nights, White Ferrari

Coloring Book: Chance the Rapper - This album was my shocker for the year, as in, I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. I really want to give this man money for this album but *le sigh* it's a streaming only record. LET ME PAY YOU, CHANCE. At least for a vinyl release.
Favorite Songs: All We Got, Same Drugs, Mixtape

The Life of Pablo: Kanye West - This album was a grower. Not even going to lie, upon first listen I 100% was like ".....nah." B U T upon further evaluation......actually a pretty solid piece of work. Like most of Kanye's work, it's 10000000000 years ahead of its' time and ~misunderstood~ when coming out but after a few rotations, but I get it, Ye.
Favorite Songs: Waves, Famous, Ultralight Beams, 30 Hours

Lemonade: Beyonce - Do I even need to elaborate on why this was one of my favorite albums of the year? I could and I should, but I'll spare you the overt Beyonce fangirling. You already know.
Favorite Songs: ....the entire album.

A Seat at the Table: Solange - I'm a mood music person and I distinctively remember when this album came out. I knew I would love it but it just wasn't the right time for me to ~recieve it and fully grasp this album....if that makes any sense. After reading some of the lyrics and
Favorite Songs: Rise, Weary, Cranes in the Sky, Don't Touch my Hair, Mad

ANTI: Rihanna - Tbh - Rihanna's best album to date. Everything is so cohesive and truly, well, ANTI, to all of the other stuff she was doing before. This is her *artist* album, you know, when singers make that transition from singer to actual like, artist. But she was always a great artist if you ask me.
Favorite Songs: Kiss it Better, Needed Me, Love on the Brain, WOO

VIEWS: Drake -  The songs that I don't like, I really hate. But the ones that I love? I LOVE. Basically, the beginning and the end were kind of.....aiight to say the least. But the middle? That's the sweet spot with all kinds of *DJ Khaled Voice* big chunes.
Favorite Songs: Hype, Still Here, Controlla, One Dance, Faithful, Child's Play, Feel No Ways

Mind of Mine: Zayn  - Definitely was waiting on this album to come out at the end of 2015 and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it! Especially the MySpace era typography for the song titles: fOoL fOr YoU
Favorite Songs: Be Four, It's You, Fool for You
